A Swim & A Prayer

A few weeks ago I invited a few women over for what I called "A Swim and A Prayer".  The idea was to come for fellowship and a swim ( I have a pool in my backyard) and then have "a light discussion about Jesus Christ and a time to share needs and pray with others about them." I was so touched by the response. It rained so there was no swimming, but still I had 10 women come. Some were avid church goers and some were not. Some believed admantly in Jesus Christ and some did not. But amazingly, all recieved the good news of the gospel with open and tender hearts. As each one shared their most intimate and desperate needs, the others gathered around them and prayed. Naturally the Holy Spirit fell. The  Bible promises us that where two or three gather in God's name He comes down and blesses. (Matthew 18:20) And indeed He did. There was weeping as the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost saturated each woman with cleansing and liberating joy.

Everyone left encouraged and uplifted. They all want to do it again soon. I think I'll try for October. Not sure what I'll call it yet... something with serving chili sounds good. (Anyone have any ideas for a catchy name?)

Maybe you'd like to do something like this with your neighbors and co-workers. If so, let me know and I'll join with you in prayer. The disciples always went house to house to spread God's word (Acts 2:46-47) As women we are instructed in the Bible to be given to hospitality. (I Timothy 3:2) Why not combine the two and impact others for the kingdom?
